These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the CarnaFish app and the carnafish.com website. By creating an account or using the service, you accept these Terms.
1. The service
CarnaFish is a fishing assistant: from a photo of your spot, an AI suggests a game plan (zone, lure, retrieve) based on the conditions. The app also includes a logbook, maps, a post feed, messaging between friends and contests. It is in beta and evolves regularly.
No guaranteed results: CarnaFish provides recommendations, not a promise of a catch. Fishing depends on many factors beyond the app.
Limits of the AI: the analysis is produced automatically and can be wrong — about the species, the technique, or its reading of the photo. When the photo shows no water body, the app tells you so, and the plan then rests on the location and the season rather than the image. Always check for yourself, especially anything touching safety and regulations.
2. Account
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your password confidential. The service is not intended for anyone under 15; below that age, a legal guardian's consent is required. One account per person.
3. Free and Premium plans
CarnaFish offers a free version (basic features, limited quotas — including a monthly number of spot analyses) and a Premium subscription that lifts those limits and unlocks the advanced features.
Pricing: the price, the term and any free trial are those shown in the app and confirmed by the App Store or Google Play at sign-up. Those amounts prevail.
Billing and cancellation: the subscription is charged by the app store and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancellation is done from your Apple or Google account settings — we have no control over it. The subscription stays active until the end of the period already paid for. Any refund request is handled by the app store.
How analyses are counted: an analysis is deducted from your quota as soon as it is started, including if you dislike the result or if it fails part-way through, because it has consumed the corresponding technical resources.
4. Contests
- Entering contests is free and open to every account.
- A single contest may offer two prizes: a standard prize, awarded to the highest-ranked non-subscriber, and a Premium prize, awarded to the highest-ranked subscriber. The ranking itself is computed the same way for everyone: a subscription gives no advantage on the score.
- Every entry must comply with applicable fishing regulations: minimum sizes, protected species, closed seasons, permits.
- Catches must be genuine and honest (photo + size). Any cheating leads to disqualification.
- We moderate entries and may remove a non-compliant catch. Winners are contacted in the app; without a reply within a reasonable time, a prize may be reassigned.
5. Your content
You remain the owner of the photos, videos and data you post. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display them in the app (Logbook, feed, maps, rankings, conversations) in order to provide the service. That licence ends when you delete the content, save for temporary technical copies. You are responsible for what you share and warrant that you hold the rights to it, including the consent of identifiable people in your photos.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service, not to post illegal, hateful, violent, sexual or misleading content, not to harass other members, not to impersonate anyone, and to respect other anglers, nature and regulations. Messaging is open between friends only and is meant for angler-to-angler conversation, not commercial soliciting.
7. Reporting, blocking and sanctions
You can report an account, a post or a comment, and block a member — you then stop seeing each other's posts and can no longer message each other. Reports are reviewed by our moderation.
Where these Terms are breached, we may remove content, issue a warning, restrict access to certain features or, for serious or repeated breaches, suspend or delete the account. You can challenge a decision by writing to contact@carnafish.com.
8. Intellectual property
The app, its design, its texts and its brand belong to CarnaFish. Any reproduction without authorisation is prohibited. Base maps come from OpenStreetMap and its contributors, and from Esri for aerial imagery, and remain subject to their respective licences.
9. Liability
Fishing is practised at your own risk. CarnaFish cannot be held liable for consequences related to the activity (safety, regulations, bank access), for content posted by other members, nor for any temporary unavailability of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account from within the app (My account → Delete my account), or write to contact@carnafish.com (see the privacy policy). Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription: that must be cancelled with the App Store or Google Play.
11. Personal data
The processing of your data is described in our privacy policy.
12. Changes and applicable law
These Terms may be amended; the date at the top prevails, and we will flag any material change in the app. They are governed by French law, without prejudice to the protective rules of your country of habitual residence if you are a consumer. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first.
